Main Bio Works Email Me

I was born in sunny, totalitarian Shanghai in 1974 and grew up in sunny, materialistic southern California.  I puttered around in high school, then much to my surprise, got accepted to UC Irvine where I received a BA in English.  After graduation, I wanted to see Europe and after much research, found the cheapest package deal there:  the Peace Corps.  It was the cushiest job I ever loved, and I stayed in eastern Europe (Romania) for two years, traveled to a dozen countries, and had a lot of misadventures.  After I came back stateside, I revisited UC Irvine and got an MA in English, and then I secured a teaching job at a college in China where I had another couple years of misadventures.

As I hit my late twenties, I decided to return permanently to southern California.  But to finance my extravagant lifestyle—i.e., eating three meals a day, paying the mortgage, traveling abroad—I got a day job teaching English in Los Angeles and embarked on my long-held ambition to become a successful novelist.

In the past few years, I’ve finished a number of  short stories, two novels (though only one decent enough for public viewing), and am currently working on a third one.  And that’s all the news that’s fit to upload.
